CBI arrested Divisional Personnel Officer of Railway for taking bribe from junior

Mumbai, Mar 17, 2012 (PTI) A senior railway official was today arrested while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from his junior colleague at his office in south Mumbai, CBI officials said.

Praful Bhatnagar, senior divisional personnel officer at Western Railway, was caught accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant, who is also an employee of the same organisation, they said.

Bhatnagar, who is a Class I gazetted officer, had asked the victim to pay him Rs 20,000 for the increase in his salary as per his seniority. Following this, the victim paid Rs 10,000 to him, but later informed the ACB wing of the CBI, who laid a trap and the accused was caught accepting the second instalment of the bribe.
