1. First empire to define and demarcate civil and criminal law – Gupta Empire 2. First Court ( of judicature) was established in Calcutta on August , 1672 3. The First Law Commission was constituted in 1834 under the Charter Act of 1833. It was chaired by Lord Macaulay. 4. First I.P.C. and CRPC were introduced in Bengal in 1862 by John Beames. 5.
