Bangalore, July 26, 2012(TNN): A special court constituted under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 on Wednesday sentenced a woman employee of Bangalore South tahsildar office to one year rigorous imprisonment for taking a bribe of Rs 300 from a visually challenged man in 2009.
Meera Nagaraj worked as a senior division assistant. She demanded the bribe from S Venkatesh, a visually challenged person, for sanctioning the revised monthly pension for the physically handicapped. Venkatesh, a resident of Tilaknagar, approached the Bangalore city division of the Karnataka Lokayukta.
Sleuths laid a trap and caught Meera when she was accepting the bribe from Venkatesh on March 2, 2009.
