World Health Organization (WHO) in its Fact Sheet No. 304, May 2006 on Electromagnetic Fields and Public Health (Base Stations and Wireless Technologies) has concluded that “considering the very low exposure levels and research results collected to date, there is no convincing scientific evidence that the weak Radio Frequency (RF) Signals from base stations and wireless networks caused adverse health effects. From all evidence accumulated so far, no adverse short or long term health effects have been shown to occur from the RF Signals produced by based stations”.

Here is a good news for the customers of postal services. Now, the money orders will become hassle-free and can be disbursed via an SMS. The trials are completed and the services are expected to be launched soon.
The state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has developed a customized application to facilitate money order service to 155,000 post offices across India. BSNL is the technology enabler and this service will remain operator neutral.

Expert Panel from Cellphone to Study Towers
Government is constituting an Expert Panel to develop terms of reference for mounting a Nation-wide campaign to study the consequences of radiation from cell phone towers on human health and ecology in a time-bound manner. The expert panel will consist of former Director General, Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR); Director, IIT-Madras at Chennai; Director, Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow and include members from Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Ministry of Science and Technology and Department of Health Research.
India Govt To Give One Mobile Phone Free to Every BPL Family With 200 minutes Talk Time
The Government is finalizing a Rs. 7000 crore scheme to give one Mobile Phone to every family living below the poverty line (BPL Family) with 200 minutes of local calls worth Rs. 100 for free, as some media sources claims.
The scheme will be called as Har Hath Mein Phone is expected to be announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on August 15 during 65th Independence Day, this scheme will help 28 million poor people (6 million family) across India to have access to free connectivity.

Here i'm sharing what i have read in TRAI website. As so many of us may want to Receive some sms from our favorite websites, coaching centres, job notifications etc. but not the disturbing telemarketing calls.
Customers (landline and mobile) who do not want to receive commercial communications can dial or SMS to 1909 (toll free) and register in either of the two categories:
1.Fully Blocked Category- stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS
2.Partially Blocked Category- stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS except SMS from one of the opted preferences

BSNL Partners With State Bank of India, Launches USSD Based ‘Mobile Money’ Services
India’s National Telecom Backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and State Bank of India (SBI) today announced a partnership for extending banking and payment services (Mobile Money) to India’s unbanked millions through the ubiquitous USSD SMS based mobile platform. With the partnership announced today BSNL customers having their account with State Bank of India (SBI) can enjoy Mobile Banking facility with all banking transactions including Money Transfer, Mobile to Mobile Fund Transfer, Balance Inquiry, Mobile Top-Up/Recharge, Mini Statement, Checkbook issuance, Prepaid Mobile Recharge and Postpaid Bill payment and lot more just for Rs. 15 per month. The service will be work over USSD based SMS system.

Good news for all the SMS fans or Heavy SMS Users! Delhi High Court today ordered the withdrawal of 200 SMS per day cap for personal communication while upholds ban on unsolicited or marketing SMSes.
The Court order comes in response for the petition challenging the TRAI’s order which was filed by Mr. Anil Kumar, secretary of an NGO . The petition also alleged that the checks and measures under the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations 2010, which was already enough to curb the menace of unsolicited SMS’s and the 200 SMS cap that has been imposed in a non-transparent manner without any priorconsultation with the mobile service providers.
