Solapur is a wonderful city

Solapur is a wonderful city of India that can become an excellent tourist center with the help of the local people in creating the right Solapur tourism environment. This is because there are many places worth visiting and making Solapur a tourist center; but are not that famous or well known to potential tourists.

The Siddheswar temple is indeed a temple worth visiting, with it being situated in the middle of a lake, and covered with water. This is one of the most picturesque landmarks of Solapur. Another place worth visiting is the Fort Bhuikot; which unfortunately, requires attention from the archeological department.

The Motibaug Tank, or Kambar Talao is a great bird watching center with the many migratory birds found flocking here in winter. This tank was first filled with white and pink lotuses; but with the SMC cleaning it, the face of the tank was brought down. However there are still lotuses blooming there now to add to the beauty of the place.

The Revansiddheswar temple is an old temple in Solapur; which if clubbed with the nearby sanctuary and Motibaug can make a wonderful international bird park. Nanaj is also referred to as the Great Indian Bustard, and was identified in 1971 by B.S. Kulkarni. With the right development of staying amenities and roads, this will increase Solapur tourism.

There is an uninterrupted supply of water in Ekrukh Hipparga Talao. This is a talao which supplies water to Solapur. Pandharpur is called the Dakshin Kashi of India, and is the abode of Lord Vittal. It is situates about sixty kilometers from Solapur, and is one of the most revered deity of Maharashtrians. Most pilgrims visit this temple during the Ashadi Ekadashi.

Tuljapur is found about forty kilometers from Solapur where you the goddess of the masses, Amba Bhavani Mata is worshipped by lakhs of people. One of the most worshipped swamiji of Solapur is Swami Samarth Maharaj of Akkalkot. This is why many people visit this Samadhi seeking blessings from the swami.

Gangapur is a spiritual place situated in Karnataka, close to Solapur. Ramlingeshwar mandir is about 70 km to the north of Solapur and is a picnic spot with its beautiful surrounding nature. The Golgumaj is found in Vijapur, about 100 km from Solapur. This is a historic town, with the many forts found here.

The lingam found in Kudal Sangam is unique and not found anywhere else. It is located on the banks of river Bhima and Sina., and has the oldest Hemad Panthi mandir. The waterfalls in Nar and Madhi, near Naldurg fort which is 45 km from Solapur is a tourist spot worth visiting in Solapur too. With so many places to visit, Solapur tourism truly has potential with the right motivation.
